Just talking to your child can make a big difference. It helps if you explain what’s happening to his or her body. Let your child know that puberty is a normal process that everyone goes through in life. It’s just that, for some, puberty happens earlier.
If your child is being teased or bullied by other children, try to get him or her to talk about it with you or with a teacher. It’s also important to remind family members and other adults who know your child to treat your child according to his or her real age, no matter how old your child looks.
Fortunately, today’s medicines can stop the progression of early puberty associated with CPP and save children from the emotional and physical trauma of the condition. The first step toward getting treatment is to find out whether your child actually has CPP. Go to Treating CPP
